In an Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) setting, inclusion means that every child can access a service, participate meaningfully and experience positive outcomes. Inclusion involves taking into account all children’s social, cultural and linguistic diversity (including learning styles, abilities, disabilities, gender, family circumstances and geographic location).
The Department of Education (the Department) has engaged ORIMA Research to undertake a short online survey of service representatives to seek their feedback on:
- their awareness of their obligations around inclusion
- their current level of activity to meet those obligations
- the extent to which services are currently accessing assistance to implement inclusive practices and build their capacity and capability to be inclusive of all children, including those with additional needs, and
- the main barriers services face to meet their inclusion obligations.
Participation in the survey is voluntary and the responses will be treated as private and confidential. Findings will be provided in a de–identified way so that no person or the service can be identified.
