ECEC Staff Survey 2025

The 2025 Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Staff Survey is being conducted by ORIMA Research on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Education (the department).  This important survey helps the Australian Government Department of Education:

The 2025 ECEC Staff Survey is being conducted over 3 November – 15 December 2025. It is open to directors, managers, coordinators, educational leaders, teachers and educators working in:

  • Centre Based Day Care
  • Family Day Care
  • Outside School Hours Care, and
  • Preschool/ Kindergartens. 

Participation in the survey is voluntary and the responses will be treated as private and confidential.  Findings will be provided in a de–identified way so that no person or the service that they work at can be identified.

  • Who is conducting the survey?

    The survey is being carried out by ORIMA Research, on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Education (the Department).

  • What is the survey about?

    The 2025 ECEC Staff Survey covers the following areas:

    • Your satisfaction with job, employment conditions and workplace culture
    • Your wellbeing
    • Your views on working in the ECEC sector
    • Your attraction to and retention in the ECEC sector
  • Who can complete this survey?

    The survey is for educators, teachers, directors, managers and coordinators working in:

    • Centre Based Day Care (Long Day Care and Occasional Care)
    • Family Day Care
    • Outside School Hours Care or
    • Preschools/ Kindergartens.
  • How long will it take to complete?

    The survey should take around 10 minutes to complete.

  • Will my responses be kept private and confidential?

    Yes! Your participation in the survey is voluntary and the answers you provide will be treated as private and confidential.  Findings will be provided in a de–identified way so that no person or the service that they work at can be identified. Your responses will not be provided to the ECEC service you are employed at.

  • When is the survey being conducted?

    This online survey is being conducted between 3 November and 15 December 2025.

  • How will I know whether I have won a $200 gift voucher?

    At the end of the online survey, you are asked whether you would like to be in the draw to win one of fifty (50) $200 gift vouchers.  If so, you are asked to provide your mobile phone number.

    The distribution of prizes is as follows:

    • 12 vouchers each for participants from New South Wales (NSW), Victoria (VIC) and Queensland (QLD)
    • 4 vouchers each for participants from Western Australia (WA) and South Australia (SA)
    • 2 vouchers each for participants from Australian Capital Territory (ACT), Tasmania (TAS) and Northern Territory (NT).

    The prize draw will be conducted on 17 December 2025 (“Drawing Date”). Winners will be selected at random from all eligible entries received by the close of the survey fieldwork period, with separate draws conducted for each state and territory.

    Winners will be notified via SMS using the phone number provided with their survey response. Notification will occur within seven (7) business days of the Drawing Date.
